Work taken from the portfolio containing 6 plates of the book ”L'Eneide di Virgilio di Luigi Ratini" (“The Aeneid of Virgil by Luigi Ratini”): Juno and Aeolus, The tempest – The wrath of Neptune, Jupiter and Venus, Aeneas admires the city of Carthage, Aeneas introduces himself to Dido, The banquet – Aeneas and Dido. The frontispiece of the Virgilian poem is illustrated by Luigi Ratini featuring the bust of the hero, with his face turned left and an extremely muscled neck.
